Hello all,
Here is a couple of days we had in China.
There is a mountain called, Mount Tai, - Taishan - it is in Shandong province, north east China.

Over 1500 meters high, which is more than 5000 feet.
There are 2 ways to accent the mountain, one way is on foot, the other is a combination of bus to the lower slopes, and cable car to the near summit.
We were only interested in doing the 'on foot' as we decided the easy way was not a challenge.
on foot is thousands of steps, all the way.
The day started with a train ride from Weifang to Tai'an city, which lies at the foot of Mt. Tai.
China High Speed Rail.
This was about 2 hours travel.
then at Tai'an, we took the number 3 bus to the foot of Mt. Tai.
Nice easy steps to start,

The first half was easy ' ish but by god, the second half was murder,
.
.
So we just went on, and on, and on, up, and up, and up.
We had to stop every 20 minutes at first, and later to the end we were doing 20 steps, then resting for 20 seconds, then another 20 steps, and a rest.
It was seriously tough, and I consider my self, fit.
We got up in around 4 hours.
The last couple of hundred metrers were really tough.

We seen them carry bricks, bags of sand, and cement,

As we got higher, it got colder, it was about 19 deg, at the foot, and probably about 3 deg, at the top.

There was 3 reasons we wanted to climb Mt. Tai (Taishan) Firstly,It is a challenge we can do together.

Secondly we wanted to see the famed 'sunrise' together.

And thirdly, we wanted to place our 'lock'
This a tradition in China for courting couples, to place a 'lock, to show their attachment to each other.
We wanted to find a nice scenic, quiet place, so chose Mount Tai.
We found this place on the Mountain.

We stayed in a hotel at the summit for the night, and planned to go down and home next day.

We got the cable car down.
.
And it was so nice to see the end of the steps.
At the bottom it was nice and warm again, probably about 20 deg.

Up here we were.

We got the bus back to the Tai'an train station, and got or train back to Weifang.
A very enjoyable 2 days, even if it was very hard on our legs.
At least we did it.
