But the guys, just what is overlanding any way? When I go to Tunisia
am I overlanding? Even if my wife come too?

Yes you are. Overlanding is a term used to describe travel by vehicle
across difficult terrain. You would not call driving to the south of
France Overlanding.

In France you call Overlanding Le Rallye Raid - as you say it is basically expedition style trips abroad to N. Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, etc.
Cheers,
Julian

Overlanding starts when you cross a sea :)

Hi all,
Overlanding starts when:
- Your insurance becomes invalid for anything that may come your way;
- Fuel is cheap but you wouldn't want to know what's in it;
- Your expensive titanium wrist watch becomes a useless gadget;
- You no longer miss the Discovery Channel;
- Almost every official you meet suddenly remembers he hasn't been
paid for two months and has a dozen children to support;
- There's no AA or RAC to call and your are better off repairing your
car by the road side (if there's any) than taking it to a workshop
where one hammer and a bent spanner is shared among 12 mechanics;
- You are surrounded by relaxed, easygoing people who smile a lot,
don't always complain and are happy to share with you whatever little
they have;
Perhaps someone has a better definition ...
