Hi Mark,
Welcome aboard - it's good to hear from new member - a number have
joined over the last few weeks but are keeping pretty quiet.
If you are new to the list and have a spare couple of minutes, please
do send in an introductory email so that we know a bit more about you,
where you live, the LC you are driving and what you use it for.
OK. I'm still debating this one. I have yet to come across any
objections to a 'handling/admin' fee.
At the moment I am considering three routes:
1. Either charge a small fee per vehicle as originally stated.
2. Have a donations bucket on the day when people register so that you
can give something or not.
3. Charge more, but with the bulk of the money raised going to a
charity (after deducting a small handling fee). In this scenario I
would be inclined to make it for one of the Army based charities on the
basis that they are the ones maintaining the lanes on the plain and it
helps keep them on side. If we were doing it somewhere else I would
aim for a charity in the local area.
I haven't considered linking up with a LR show purely on the basis that
there are so many it would be difficult to decide and we really want to
just cater for TLCs - I think that we can achive a lot more by being
marque specific and have already had talks with Toyota PR who seem keen
to help support us - something we wouldn't necessarily get if linking
with a LR show.

Julian,
On one of the topics above, could we not run a joint venture with
the Shogun club, or even plug it as Japanese 4x4's? This could
increase our numbers considerably.
Regards, Clive.

Hi Clive,
That is an option, although at this stage I am still keen to keep it
just Toyotas.
Talking to Toyota PR they seem quite keen to get involved and I am keen
to forge a stronger relationship with them - I get the impression that
they are wanting to do a bit of a push on Landcruisers at the moment so
whatever we do should help them.
In return in the short term we will certainly get more publicity as
well as more promotional materials and in the long term who knows - if
we can get recognised as an 'official' LC club I gather there may be
further benefits.
On a side note it does concern me slightly teaming up with another
Marque on the basis that I wouldn't want any testosterone fed inter
marque one upmanship occurring in an environment when accidents can so
easily happen
