Hi all,
After reading a horror story on this very forum about the costs involved
if you lose your keys, I thought I'd better get a spare remote control
for the alarm/central locking and a spare key, as I only have one of
each.
My car is a UK spec '97 diesel and the key apparently has a transponder
in it as an extra security device. Certainly, it's a different key
blank to my '95 petrol.
Anyway, Toyota tell me that I'll need to book my car in with them for
them to programme the new key and remote to be the same as my current
ones - and therefore work. However, I'm half sure I read somewhere that
this can be done at home with a complicated sequence of turning the
ignition on and off etc..
Does anyone know if this work can be done DIY? I'm semi-allergic to
Toyota workshop prices.
Cheers - Andy
