It was the "Exeter Gearbox Centre" in the Marsh Barton trading estate
in Exeter, tel 01392 434049. I was very impressed with them (and I
believe Julian had some auto gearbox work done by them too). But I
think Andy was a good long way 'oop North from here, won't he?
SNIP.
Pleased the blinding of the rad is useful for you, I don't think
there is any problem with it, though removing the fan instead would
be a tad excessive as suggested. A Kenlowe is OK but another electric
gismo to go wrong, and have they managed to seal the hose where the
capillary tube enters? Or do they still recommend fitting it with
silicone sealant? Not ideal, let alone when one forgets to switch it
off before entering a ford.
As for the gearbox place - thank you for the info, the big question
is do they do the manual gearboxes for TLC's ? Or do they do them,
but have to strip them down, and then order parts so an overhaul
becomes a 3 week job? When one looks at the gearbox remanufacturing
trade very few advertise Toy boxes and I have yet to see one that
advertises o'haul or exchange for the 5 speed manual. A lot handle
the auto boxes though. Perhaps if the Hino light truck range were
imported to Europe there would be more scope for them.
Any joy yet Andy?
Cheers
