Alright Guys
It's a real pain trying to source all the bits and bobs for Africa in
Ireland. Everything has to be imported. And when doing it in bits and
bobs the carriage and time taken really adds up and the bits I
invariably miss out or forget to order have to be re-imported.
So I'm going for a one stop shop option for the roof rack.
I previously posted notes on how to dodge VAT and import duty on
imported expedition equipment. I'm now going to put that into action and
source a fully equipped expedition roof rack from South Africa. Savings
will be posted later.
Will also manage to dodge the SA VAT + The euro is strong against
the Rand.
Total savings over UK high street prices will be posted when finalised.
The following is the spec of the Rack:
1 x Full length expedition roof rack to Fit 1995 80 series Toyota
Landcruiser. 3.2Meters. Complete with all fittings.
Roof Rack to be fitted with the following:
1 x Technitop Roof Tent and ladder fitted to rear of rack. Rear entry.
Current model with hatch on roof.
1 x Easi Awn awning. 3 meter fitted to the rack. Drivers side.
1 x Lockable Double Jerry can holder. Fitted to Rack.
1 x Lockable Gas cylinder holder. Fitted to Rack.
1 x High lift jack, complete with dust cover. Fitted to Rack.
4 x Lightforce, 240 Blitz, spot lights mounted to front of roof rack (or
equavilent).
1 x Swivel type Work lamp mounted to rear of rack - if practical
1 x Butterfly type spare wheel/tyre holding down bracket. Fitted to rack
to suite above.
All goods wooden crated for containarised sea freight transportation.
Question:
Am I missing anything that would be useful to get while at it.
Any thoughts welcome
Thanks
Niall
