Rear Disc?

Hey all.
Went to take the calliper of my rear disc to upgrade handbrake. However as you can see in the clip attached there is a lip on the disc. I've never seen this before, all four have them. I've only seen discs fully smooth. Is it common? You can see that's stopping the calliper sliding easily off.
Sorry can't attach the video...having a shocker!

Can't see the pics but yes it's common. It's where the pad wears the disk down. Rare to get perfect across face wear on a disc really.

You have to lever the caliper at an angle to the disc. This forces the pistons up inside to give you a greater pad/disc clearance.

If you're not changing the disc/drum as part of the upgrade it might be worth measuring the disc thickness to see if it"s past the minimum.

Also there is a maximum internal diameter of the internal drum part of the disc...... if your discs are very lipped this also could be beyond spec and won't help H Brake operation....
Sounds like you need new discs....

Thanks all. Yeah I was thinking I might need new discs but was hoping I didn't. Damn!
