Hello all,

Well I took the plough off the back of my 120 when I had the new bumper fitted.

However, I still need to tow things.

Where can I buy one from?

Or,,,,,

I was looking for some one to make / weld me a receiver hitch.

Towbars fitted to vehicles after some time in 1998 have to have type approval to be legal to use in Europe (including the UK). Basicly that means you can't just have a bar made because type approval is an expensive process. Type approved bars have to have their ratings clearly marked on them somewhere along with their approval code so it's easy for the authorities to check up on you. I have no idea what the real world chances of this being noticed are.

You can't even use a drop plate unless the bar was approved for use with one which very few are. Good luck trying to get this information from Toyota for the OEM bars!

I've ended up with 2 OEM bars which because of their design lend themselves to easy swapping. One is unmolested for towing the caravan. One has the blade cut away for clearance with just one set of holes remaining. While I still have a plastic rear bumper I find the tow bar a good way of stopping it getting too badly damaged.
