Can't disagree with any of that but let's not forget, 'cos it's easy to lose sight of this - the tow ball is only held on with two bolts. So regardless of style, design, modification etc etc, the weakest point is likely to be the two old re-used rusty bolts. And reality is that you don't see those fail very often nor do they come with a certifcate when they're new
Having said that if a deep sea coded welder offered to make me one, it would be hard to say no over the one made in China with a nice sticker on it.
