Reputable / decent bodywork

Hi All,

Can’t post in the “promoted companies” section, so trying here for now.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good & affordable body shops, ideally within a 3 hr drive from London??

What I need done:
- Rear tailgate rust (I have a primered tailgate ready to go - needs painting & fitting)
- bubbling above front windscreen > sort out rust
- fitting windscreen and rear window with Toyota Butyl stuff so that it doesn’t happen again

Nice to have:
- raptor coats, either whole truck, or bonnet, sides, rear, roof (depends on cost I guess)
- install kut snake flares

All the Toyota specialists seem to stay away from too much bodywork. Most of the local body shops near me seem to deal mainly with accident repairs, and then when I have gone to local specialist body shops within a short drive, the prices have been extortionate (I got a quote for 22k to do whole truck!!).

Anyone have anyone they recommend??

Break the job up , insurance work pays to much to have the truck in taking up space for a lengthy period .

Full body Raptor is an amateur job even done by a pro so all you need is someone with the gear to spray .

Kut Snake flares leave the attaching bolts exposed so just buy self tapping stainless bolts hold the flare in place and drill the bolt in .

You will be surprised what you can do yourself and repairing your repair is money for nothing to them , a tea break quickie .

If i was considering going kut snake and full body raptor which basically says bruiser i'd instead buy one of these

and a can of this or something similar

This is closest to what I’m going for.

Kut snake flares are only ‘cos I’m led to believe that if I take the fenders off it’ll fail an MOT. But looks like some folks are getting away with it if tyre size is appropriate (285’s ??). I can’t seem to find a definitive answer here.

My main worry about doing myself is:
A) how bad the steel is underneath the windscreen seal
B) doing the prep work on the current paint before applying raptor etc.

I did my Beetle back in the late 90’s so I’m sure I can do it again - but there I had my Dads factory floor as space!

In my head I’m picturing the light green truck without the huge wheels & crawling bumpers - so basically a cross between the paint on the 90 & the (lack of) flares on the 80 attached! (Both seen on eBay trucks!)

Your 80 has factory flares and 285's won't cause any problems unless your replacing wheels with some huge offset .

If that paint from Teamac is polyurethane id expect it to be tougher than raptor .

305's here on a 10 inch wide rim plus a 30 odd mm negative offset which is basically like adding wheel spacers .

Parking problems

Nice one on the Krown Shayne. Looks like there may be a weep from the rear diff but you’ve already mentioned it’s been stood and you’re looking at some tired seals so no doubt you’ve got that noted somewhere. Looks pretty good underneath and if Rob couldn’t find much to worry about then that’s...
