Leo, The nearest ferry port to Exeter is Plymouth in Devon. Plymouth sailings go to Roscoff, St Malo and Cherbourg. I think that for Salisbury plain area the nearest ferry would be Southampton or Poole or Portsmouth crossing from Caen. Have a look at some ferry brochures to confirm this.
