RoughTrax closed due to Coronavirus

All, update from the RoughTrax site in case anyone was planning some maintenance activity in the next few months!

A victim of confusing government information?

The BBC are reporting today that 'Government guidelines say that online shopping sites are still open (and encouraged) and postal and delivery services will run as usual.' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-51176409
However, I can't find the government guidelines thay are referring to.

Of course, if RoughTrax are voluntarily closing their business to protect their workforce that's fair enough and to be applauded, but I don't think they qualify for govt support if they have not been ordered to close so I don't know what will happen to their staff.

If you are refering to the 80% pay govt support (the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme), it is for any company who chooses to "furlough" staff.

Talking to to guy who has a garage behind my workshop this morning he was saying it is the same with many motor factors

All businesses (not just LC owners) need to keep there vehicles going!

Thanks, confusing times. So any business could chose to lay off some or all of their staff on 80% - much better support than I had realised.

Our accounting software told us that it applied 'if a business was closed...', which I wrongly thought meant by government order (as withsome shops/pubs etc). But our software is wrong anyway, because a business can continue trading with some but not all of its staff in 'furlough' - it doesn't need to be 'closed'.

Can an employee carry out other work for income if under business furlough or does the business have to agree to it/know about it?

I expect majy more will do the same. I ordered some parts from an Irish supplier on the phone today, he told me he was closing today at 5 for the foreseeable.. after he sends my brake kit down

Roughtrax back open. Ordered exhaust 15:05 On Friday with free delivery within 2-5 days and it arrived the following day at 10:15. Brilliant service :clap:

I got stuff from them last week. Mind you I did have to send it back, but as always, great service. And from Milner too.
