rust prevention. anyone tried this?

It was just a thick rubber underseal product used to cover the rust where it wasnt so bad it needed a new frame. By the time the rust was visible again, and the frame had continued rusting away underneath the coating, they were out of the extended warranty period.
 
Yes quite. Once corrosion has started, due to contamination/salt etc, you need to steam clean at least before treatment. Even sandblasting does not remove rust. The metal does not a have uniform consistency and you end up with a nice shiny surface but full of little worm holes holding salt etc. Been there done it all and failed.
