Salisbury Plain - Easter Monday.

Hey Paul,

My 80 used to light up the whole dash when over 2000rpm. Cleaned alternator contacts/bushes and it cured it. My money would be on something related to the alternator.

Lorin

Hi Guys,

Great day today, thanks to all responsible. Snapped a few reasonable shots today of all trucks looking steely.

Tommo, great pics :D
Paul, is that the sound of your new 100 series I can hear

Well we took on a load of water today so I would go for the alternator Paul, leave it over night to dry out and see how it is in the morning. The only possible down side is that the water has created a short, there may be a chance that the battery will flat come the morning.

Jon I think we kept Julian's new diff nice and cool ;) :D , didn,t ask him if you had done the breathers as well. If not might be worth while changing the oil A.S.A.P........just in case.

Buy the way guys that lane we did in the afternoon is a good one just need a brave soul.........Ian.......to drive the last two splashes to test the depth   .

Steve

gutted I could not be there today....
shame but better luck next time...
#Hope you all had a good day....
Nice pics....

keep them coming...

Thats it Julian, i said the words "i'd quite like a 100" and the 80 has punished me.

All connectors are good, in fact very dry inside, so will order up an alternator tomorrow if still no good, the hardest part was cutting off all hose clips as they are seized.

I bet a 100 series wouldn't break

Seems there were a few alternator problems - Tony also had an issue on the A303. Alternator not charging at all
Hope he made it home ok after we stopped and had a look at a service station...

Thanks to all for a very good day out. Managed to sneak my LC into the local jetwash while the cashier wasn't watching and blast off the muck, including about 10kgs of clay attached to my plough, I mean tow hook

Now if I can get a new front number plate from Halfords at 8am tomorrow, I'll be all set for my MOT at at 9:30!

Cheers,

Did you give him chance to use the locker though?

On the drive back some lights on the dash flickered and then stayed on (timing belt, turbo, low charge, water in fuel etc) but everything working ok.

Any suggestions?

I agree, alternator. When mine does it a good blast with a jet wash followed by some WD40 normally sorts it. Failing that a strip down and clean.

Ian

Great pics, so many 80s! I wish i could of come

I see, guess I will have alternate cars - green one for depth testing and red one when all is safe :D

Ian

Thanks Chaps, was a good day out. 11 vehicles showed up. Pretty cool.

Tony did make it back with plenty juice still in batteries. Just over 12V on them when running so still has life.

I however have a problem.... Will post in the 120 section. 1 VERY wet airfilter, lots of clay in airbox :( Pics to follow.

Thanks guys another great day out playing in the mud etc. I have to say even more impressed with the 120 after today's outing. For me the highlight was playing in the tank test area.

So the down side is I now have a few issues:
  • Battery light on in dash (alternator not charging)[/*:m:1rym5o07]
  • Front bumper now has a nice stress crack on the divers side[/*:m:1rym5o07]
  • Both corners of the rear bumper now have new custom designs[/*:m:1rym5o07]
  • Broken rear mud flap (it's hanging on by a thread....)[/*:m:1rym5o07]
  • Lost locking nut on one of the wheels[/*:m:1rym5o07]
  • Bent both side trim pieces (pretend rock sliders)[/*:m:1rym5o07]

Fortunately the trip home was uneventful and the traffic never materialised otherwise it could have been a different story.... Will need to get someone to check out the alternator for me tomorrow (hopefully)

Anyway here are some pics... not that many today as would you believe it the battery went flat on the camera... sigh

Got a few reasonable pictures but how do I insert them..?

Did someone do a guide for posting pics? I know Lorin has some good ones.

Have to agree with Tony - the tank area, as short lived as it was, was a lot of fun. We were asked to move on by some marshals as that area was actually out of bounds.

Again the 120 surprised me in some of the more difficult sections. All hail A-TRAC. Tony and I went up a nice twisty section which had his wheels off the ground. The truck just picked its way up :)

For those interested:
The picture of me with Ian, Tommo and Les on the sides and rear was as I was driving through mud. They did not want to get their shoes muddy so I gave them a lift. That is all, nothing more to see here, move along.
