Hi,
I have just joined the ELCO list, and would like to know if any other member has fitted or had fitted a snorkel to a Landcruiser. If they were purchased from a supplier could they tell me who, and if they were 'home made' where did the get the parts needed from please?
Many thanks in advance
Chas

Hi Chas
Arbill from the west midlands sell safari snorkels for land cruisers.
They don=92t have any in at the mo as I am waiting for one but they should
be with us in the next 3-4 weeks. estimated cost =A3200 ish

As regards to fitting they are usually ok and straight forwards as I
have a fitted an ARB one on my 110 double cab when I had it .easy to
read instructions and so on .the only criticism is from a mate of mine
JW, he suggested using stronger fixing on the A post when you attach the
snorkel to it. Because when you=92re out laning or playing the old fixing
get ripped out easy .believe you me I have seen JW snorkel smacking
trees high banks and rocks and it is amazing that the thing has lasted.

So I defiantly give the thumbs up to the safari snorkel

Yours

Hello Chas,
Welcome to the list.
Yes, some of us have snorkels fitted to our Landcruisders. But each
of us may have a different LC model, so it's useful to indicate which
one model/year is of interest to you.

Hi Chas,
Welcome to the list.
Firstly, when sending messages to the list, please could you send them
as plain text, as opposed to html formatted - the html format makes a
mess of the digest mode as well as takes up unnnecessary bandwidth.
With regards Snorkels the are one or two brands (e.g. Safari, TJM,
Airtech) - Safari seems the most popular in this country, mainly since
most off road companies can supply - just shop around for the best
price.
Ray's comments about the fixings to the A pillar being week and this is
a well know issue with most Snorkels. The best remedy is to bin the
plastic fittings and then use Rivnuts instead.

Hi Julian,
Sorry I didn't realise I was sending in html, if this one is scrambled
please let me know how I can alter it, I'm just sending as a 'reply' at the
moment. Thanks for all the info from everyone concerned.
Regards
Chas

Hi Chas,
Dont' worry, most people don't.
The reply will have come through as text because you were replying to a
text message.
The best bet is to add the mailing list email address to your address
book and then specify that all messages you send to the address are
sent as plain text - most of the main email programs provide that
option, you might just have to dig around in the help about it.
