Socialism

OK, Chapel Gate, this is getting annoying now, your bloody right again!!
Capitalism creates business, but if your not careful it also creates division, imbalance, resentment and suffering. If we want a moral, tempered society, it has to be balanced with elements of socialism, like looking after the poor, the disabled, the sick, the elderly and the young. Like having a fair society, that doesn't mean everyone is the same, treated the same or lives the same, it just means that it's fair, people don't starve, but they are rewarded for their work, and their contribution. I don't agree with socialism, it doesn't work. I don't agree with capitalism either, it doesn't work. I agree with elements of both.
Great minds and all that moggy..:icon-smile:

I agree the solution lies in the centre ground. Pick the best parts from each ideology. I think there is such a thing as british capitalism. We strictly adhere to the essence of capitalism and watch our great industries, institutions and inventions be raped by the rest of the world. Every other country indulges in some form of protectionism and uses capitalism to its advantages rather than its ultimate demise as we seem so intent on doing..

Which is why I think it's a shame we're leaving a nice protectionist economic and political group and apparently are going to agree free trade with a load of people who can undercut our manufacturing processes through cheap labour and lax standards. Moving from an imperfect situation to a more imperfect one.

I am fully aware that many people think it will be less imperfect, but I don't understand why.

It has happened, and nationalised industry was shit!!

We still have quite a lot of nationalised industries that could be put into private hands. Health. Education. Pensions. Roads. Of course there will be people who think these should all be run for profit. I don't think they should be, and I don't understand why people think it's so heinous to think that trains and energy could also be owned by the country.

Money talks so supply and demand rules - the government tax it so they can reinvest in quality of life - the law essentially works to make the world a better place - for everyone .

What we have now is law and government working to enforce demand for profitable gains that will not be reinvested in the very foundations that hold the whole pipe dream up .

An intelligent government would have nationalized industries such as rail that are vital infrastructure to the economy and hired the likes of Branson to run it efficiently at a reasonable profit and that single person would be paid a percentage of the profit making it an enviable job ,
one man gets rich instead of throwing money at it here there and everywhere hoping somebody who has a clue what to do with it to improve things actually gets some and uses it wisely . He is employed by the people and the vultures would be circling constantly looking to replace him if his performance was found wanting .

How about a nice dose of communism every other term ? That should sort things out for a bit...
