[SPAM][BL] A 100 Prado ?

Well I know I am a pain when I ask that people on here do not refer to their beloved TLC by a marketing name rather than the series number. After all on the front page of the ELCO site Julian rightly only refers to series numbers.
I think I have now found another use for the ubiquitous names used by Toyota.
There I was, strolling across the dusty gravel car park behind a market in Famagusta when I started to admire the beautiful paint finish on a TLC which was a form of light metallic champagne.
I took it to be another 100, of which there are quite a few on the island (otherwise there are just a handful of 90's, the odd 80 and some 4Runners).
But when I got closer it had one of those moulded 'A' bars draped around the bumper and grille with 'Prado' moulded into it. But this was not a bar bolted on from another model. It was perfectly moulded and fitted to the front of the 100 which itself looked to be no more than a couple of years old.
I stood back and looked again, it looks like a 100, has the bonnet length (6 cylinder) of a 100 and has all the doors and rear quarter window shape of a 100. It was the extra width of a 100 too. The back door was a swingout tailgate, and with spare wheel tucked under the rear floor. But again, on the tailgate 'Prado' was on the badge.
As this place is RHD country (on both sides of the island) there is a strong trade for Jap grey imports with several companies specialising in recent models freshly imported. And we know that at times some oddly badged models come from the Jap market.
I have seen the Prado brand only on 90's yet the Colorado on 70's as well as 90's. (Though have been told that Prado was once used on a 70 in an obscure market somewhere). So what was this beast I was looking at ? To me it was very definitely a 100.
My friends the UN have the usual range of Toys here, except that they are not using the 4Runner any more but the 90 and Hi-Luxe for patrols. A friend (ex UK car dealer) is pursuing the possibilities of purchase of surplus used stock !
Cheers

I posted this a few weeks ago but it did not appear, so thought it worth
posting again, but my apologies if the first one got through to some of you
!

What next a Rav4 Amazon ?
