[SPAM][BL] starting/glow plugs

As a knowledgeable owner (cos you are a member of Elco ;o) I am sure you are aware of the various differences between different model years of the 80, well, for any of the TLC range of series come to that.
Your man obviously knew his 80 intimately but should have been aware of the different specs on the different engines fitted to the series. Yes, he had the electric screen through which air is drawn on its way to the head. Others have standard glow plugs warming the spray in a pre-combustion chamber like many other diesels. As far as I can remember, the change came with the 24v engine. Those glow plugs have all the usual problems associated with that method. But faults are easily diagnosed and put right. HTH
