The main reason for using LPG/Diesel is to increase the efficiency of
the engine, whether that results in increased fuel consumption or increased
power is down to your own choice/driving style. I think most people that do
it are more interested in economy than power. When people look into
converting they are always looking for the pay-back time, this is not the
attitude of a power seeker as they would never get said pay-back.
Modern diesel engines are already as good as, or better, than petrol
for performance, the BMW range and the Audi that won Le Mans a couple of
years ago are good examples of that.
