Spare wheel cover lock seized

Morning all,

The lock has seized up on the spare wheel cover, it's the metal band type one which latches round. The key goes in but won't turn. I sprayed with wd last night but still no luck this morning. I last had it off a couple of years ago, I should have kept it oiled! Any tricks to get it off without drilling the lock out?

Well I got the cover off by squeezing it in just enough to unclip the latch. Tyre was slightly deflated which helped. I also managed to remove the lock from the latch mechanism , will leave it to soak to see if I can free it up.

Try leaving it to soak a while in Coca Cola. This has been known to help/work many times. I can't guarantee but its worth a shot.
