Thanks Clive, for the replies on my starter problems
After reading about starter problems on the ih8mud forum - I've bought a new starter. Not the OE one from Toyota at over =A3420 nor their refurbed exchange ones at =A3200 nor Milners at =A3179 + vat nor any of the other quotes at around =A3180+. I bought an OE Nippon Denso 2KW one from the US for..... wait for it............. =A383 including delivery! Ok I haven't got it yet, but the picture shows exactly the same one as mine. Spoke to the guy on the phone to double check, and it yes it is the right one. I was going to pull mine out again and change the brushes etc. this time , but at that price I couldn't resist. I'll wait until delivery before I slag of the car & parts industry in this country for ripping us off yet again.

Hi Mark,
There is a lot of merit in buying kit from the US at the moment - they
tend to be cheaper anyway and with the pound/dollar rates being
favourable it makes a lot of sense.

Wednesday is my day off ? received what? who are you? are you all really 2
days behind. This is more serious than I thought, removing the heatsheild
and letting my son use his sonic screwdriver has obviously caused a rift in
time. Here's tonights lotto numbers numbers 04 13 14 19 21 44 :)
thanks Julian, that was sent from my wifes PC at work, I'll sort it tomorrow
.
thanks
Marko

Hi Niall,
Brand spanking new shiny starter arrived today. V. Happy. I've never held a
brand new clean starter before, all the starters I've ever handled have
usually been oily and covered in crud or slightly less dirty refurbished
ones. Typically my old one has been behaving itself over the last few days.
I finally got it to "play up" a few minutes ago, so it's coming out tomorrow
hopefully.
I'm hopefully getting a bit of a refund of postage so total may be closer to
?75 Incredible!.
cheers
Marko

Call or email him(Remember they are 10 hours behind). His details are on
his eBay page http://stores.ebay.co.uk/GRAND-ALTERNATORS-AND-STARTERS
for more info. If you've got a diesel it might be a bit more difficult as
it's the States and petrol Land Cuisers rule. What's nut's is that you
could
probably send him your old one for him to fix and get it returned and it
would still cost less than getting one here. As long as you can wait a
month. Which you probably cant.
Don't mention my name as I've fallen out with him over his Postage and
Handling charge and the 13 day delivery. I would have happily paid twice as
much for the starter, but don't like the fact he charged me 25 dollars
handling on top of the $35 actual postage. I was happy to pay $60 dollars
for shipping at the time as he said I'd have it in 5 days, then when I got a
tracking number I found out he hadn't posted until 5 days after I bought it
and sent it by slow freight.
Anyway rant over. Overall I'm more than happy with ?83 inc delivery for a
new starter. Toyota wanted over ?400+ vat for new and ?200+ vat for recon. I
got the starter in today and I love my 80 again as it starts first time now.
cheers
