steering boxes

Hi Guys
I am still trying to get a 100%, positive, definate, trully, yes to my
question for the last while and would you believe it, I cant get it
anywhere.
So I need the help of some one who knows for sure if the steering box from a
95 cruiser will fit my 92 cruiser.
I know I have got answers from verious sourses but they conflict a lot to
the point I dont know what to do.
I asked MR Toy and he was unsure cause I dont have the VIN of the doner
vehicle. Maybe they do, maybe they dont but he wont commit.
I have asked another forum and while I have been told the part numbers are
the same I cant confirm that.
I asked here and the people who helped said it should but then maybe not.
I asked the seller and he said it should but wont take it back if it wont
and has no VIN for the cruiser.
I asked the steering experts who will be recondioning the box in the UK and
they were not sure at all.
They only recon your original box so both you and they know it will fit back
on.
He did check with another guy who said they are different nearly sure he
was.
He said that the 95 model and up has a speed sensor in the box and mine does
not.
Caracterised by a wire and a plug at the end , I think two prong.
So at the moment I am at a standstill.
My guy wont take the box out at my home cause he likes to work m in his
garage and wont take it out there unless I have one to go back in cause he
has no space to keep the cruiser there.
So what to do
cheers

John,
OK, try to find out if the Donor car was a UK model and also if it was
manual or automatic - shouldn't mane that much difference, but should
help a bit.
I already have your VIN number so will check through the EPC.

Hi Julian
Thanks for you help.
God its such a pain when I cant get a definitive answer as to wether it will
or wont fit.
Yes it is/was a Uk cruiser and Auto and a 95 model..
I asked if it had wires coming out of it and he said yes.
Have you heard of this speed sensor in some of the boxes.
Do all the boxes have these wires coming out of them.
cheers

John,
It's not a "speed sensor" - it's an actuator reacting to speed in
order to control the steering effort. If your LC has no electronic
control unit implementing this function the wires can be ignoired. I
don't want to confuse you further but I tend to think mechanically the
'95 boxes may be the same and only differ by the presence of this
extra function.
