Strange oily (clear oil) dripping from passenger side dash

Re: Strange oily (clear oil) dripping from passenger side da

Stripped the covers off the pump this afternoon, and it's leaking and running back up the loom, also dripping over the ECU and other parts behind the glove box, don't want it getting to my wine gums  , got to order a new one tomorrow £228 inc delivery.

Can you confirm that it is the Timing Control Valve actually leaking?
Is it through the connector?
Can it not just be sealed and put back again?

FSM says to change the whole IP, not only the TCV, if faulty.

My understanding is it's one of the seals and it just happens to leak down and into the wiring harness cover and then ends up in the passenger footwell. Supposedly a known problem but then my local dealer knew nothing about it - probably proves it is a well known problem then.

You can get the TCV from various places, someone on the other forum got hold of one from a diesel specialist. My understanding is taht it can't be rebuilt so a new one is the only option. Other than that some silicon up inside the wiring loom might stop it getting into the car - yep I know that's a bodge up but then the car doesn't seem to care as it runs fine and it isn't leaking enough to particularly worry about - about 10ps worth of diesel every month or so.

Found these pictures posted on the other forum http://s1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee4 ... newest%3D1 So will source one next week. have read that other people say it runs better once fitted, which could explain why mine rattles a lot when cold, it was taking about 8 miles to warm up, but have sorted that now with a new thermostat, but I do find it sluggish and rattly until the gauge has hit at least 3 bars from cold.
