Can someone please indicate to me where it is on a 1995 diesel auto? I have the famous flickering rev counter and want to check it as I also need a reliable rev counter the then check my idle and idle up is all correct as I think its not.

Thanks

Rev counter is normally sensed on diesels via the alternator, check the small oval/round plug found at the rear.

regards

Dave

On my 97 hdj80 24V, the sensor is at the bottom of the injection pump. AFAIK resistance should be around 180 ohms.
my rev counter is toast as well.

Only the one wire for the stop solenoid on my 12 valve, is yours 12 or 24 valve? It does seem the 24v was at the beginning of the slippery sensor slope.

If I am asked to fix a car these days it will be an electronic sensor issue or DPF blockage....caused by a faulty sensor!

I prefer older technology when it comes to 4x4 off roading.
