the vicki brookes article - my predicament

Dear ELCO et al
I don't know whether any of you responded to her preliminary enquiry, but
she seems very interested in having l'beast in one of her articles, its not
the only l'beast, I know this - my predicament is that there is a few bits
of work that I need to do on it, not least fix the radiator and other bits,
like get it Taxed and on the road again.
I was wondering whether any of you would be prepared to help me out with
sorting l'beast out? - I can buy some of the necessary bits in the next
month or so, like the door window motors, and I'll get an electrician to
help me out prior to your help so maybe there won't be much work to do on
it. Maybe one or two of you are prepared to help? - its only because, on my
own it will take me several months to sort l'beast out, and now I've got a
deadline which I know I can't make on my own.
Someone said I should forget it and tell Vicki that its been declared SORN
and needs some work on it, and its not taxed or MOT'd, and that I should
explain that I have already some photos of l'beast off-piste as it were
(Algeria). I've told her I have some photos and slides but her and a small
camera crew would need to shoot l'beast doing what I got it for.
Maybe a couple of you could help me get it ready for an MOT?
Toyota might be prepared to sponsor a trip out of it.
I don't know how I would go about paying for your expertise, but please,
please can you get back to me on this soon? Maybe we can sort something out?
I feel really awful asking for help in this way - I've never had to do it
quite like this before, and I've always tried to do things that needed doing
myself, but what I can do unaided is limited; I will understand if you all
write back and say "the cheek of it! How dare she!?" and if this is your
response, then I expect this, and I won't hold this against you.
And Vicki, if you are reading this, don't be too harsh on me!
Regards
Renate

Where in the world is l'beast? What work needs doing for the MOT?

Renate,
No I don't think anyone will write that, more likely tell you of for using
the dreaded html! I would like to help with l'beast but don't get to think
about what I need to do on my vehicles, let alone do something.
I seem to have missed the Vicki Brookes article thread (or the spam filter
thought I ought not see it), can you recap a little?

Here is a copy of her original message (sent to the Elco list). I don't
think she'd be interested in my bog-standard machine, but yours might be
some good to her.

Hello
We are the publishers of Today Tomorrow magazine for Toyota in the UK,
and are looking for case studies for an upcoming feature. We're after
people (UK only please) who use their Land Cruisers for serious
off-roading/towing purposes, and have an interesting story to tell.
Would you be interested in appearing in the magazine? It would involve a
quick interview and photographs. We're looking for men and women, and
particularly for older vehicles that have been running well for years
and would showcase the reliability and durability of the car. If you are
interested, please email back with a short paragraph on why you would be
suitable.
Many thanks
