What condition was the belt in?
I've changed a few now and even at about 20k past due date there has never
been any damage to the belt.

Ditto for me Dave, the belt was in great shape - but - surprisingly the
surface of the tensioner roller was coloured, you know, a slight blue hue
to it. But the bearing seemed OK and it turns as smoothly as the new one I
put in. It is good enough to put on my boat engine as a jockey on the
alternator belt to help wrap better on the small driven pulley.
But don't you feel much better when you have replaced the belt !?
cheers
