This FZJ105 started as a 2000 base model from the government and it's probably the best platform for a every day use. travel and 4wheelin.

It's an upgrade to my Jeep XJ, that's been around with me for more than a decade ... basically an all around vehicle.
Been able to survive long trips to the dunes, hard routes to the amazon and the andes ... but with more comfort, space and reliability.
Here's a pic of my XJ doing it's best ... bashing the dunes

I suggest turbo to get a fat lump of the size of the 105 to perform in the dunes.
Great build up.

Many of my friends have the FZJ105 and they use them in the dunes without problems (well a rear locker can be more than handy) and the performance of the land cruiser is almost the same as the XJ ...

only the time will tell if it really needs more power, if that is the case a supercharger will do the work just fine. Simpler and less expensive than a turbo.
