TLC meet

Julian,
I have been thinking about the proposed Land cruiser camping meet
that has been punted around and have some thoughts about a venue.
What about having our meet at an already established show? They
have full facilities, usually an off road course for those interested
and plenty of space. Last year I went to the Peterborough show and
when I got there I arranged a block of Eight pitches for myself and
other friends that were going, all had booked seperately. I am sure we
are organised enough to make a block booking at one of these
events. There would be a Land rover presence but so what. Peterborough
had marked out pitches for camping but they also had an area, next to
us, that was half a football pitch or more that they had not bothered
to mark. Bearing in mind that they did not rent all of the showgroung,
the bit I talk of was theirs.
Regards, Clive.

Hi Clive,
Certainly an idea, but how do you think they would feel about 30+ Land
Cruisers turning up?
I still like the idea of trying to find somewhere in Wales to base
ourselves. There's great scenery and the laning will offer far more
variety than a single off road coarse at a show.
Also I suspect that the show side of things might be wasted on some of
the people - I know a number of list members who would be up for Wales,
but won't consider going to a show.
What do others think?
I still need to find some time to sit on the phone and try to find a
suitable location. Hopefully should find time before the end of the
month.

My views don't really count as my cricket commitments would make it
almost impossible for me to attend a full weekend.
But if I were to be able to go I would consider a self-organised camping
/ laning trip but I would not consider attending a show.
My 2p worth.

One or two people might jump on my neck for being a "doom-monger" here
but if you are arranging a trip that includes laning as part of the
itinerary then bear in mind that our glorious leaders have just taken it
upon themselves to enact legislation that removes all vehicular rights
from 70% of green lanes that are currently open to vehicles.
In a few weeks time, when the legislation actually takes effect it will
be illegal to drive on a RUPP or a dual-status UCR without the
landowners permission. Only pure UCRs and BOATs will be driveable as of
right.
