Towing insurance

Hello,
Would anybody know how to insure a trailer on its own for a short trip
to the continent?

Roman, I have taken my IFOR WILLIAMS trailer over to France on a couple
of occasions. My policy, with more-than ( Royal & Sun Alliance ) covers
me for such eventualities, as indeed does the recovery and return of to
the UK if needed, of vehicle and trailer with the same company.
Regards Gareth Jones.

My vehicle insurance covers the trailer for 3rd party risks automatically, and I think that's pretty standard. (But the comprehensive cover doesn't extend to the trailer.)
I insure the trailers against theft, damage, etc with the NFU. Since the horses don't take foreign holidays I haven't looked into cover abroad, but I'm sure they would do it if I asked. The Caravan Club are probably also good people to ask.
Note that if they are on your house insurance (eg for theft) that will almost certainly NOT cover them if they are actually hitched to a towing vehicle.

Thanks Gareth & Christopher.
I've rang a number of companies and had little success. They either
insure for theft & damage but only in the UK (Association of Market
Traders) or just for 3rd party but not for theft & damage (Adrian
Flux), or do not offer trailer cover if I have no vehicle cover with
them (the rest). Hard luck ...
