Hi everyone, I’ve lost 1 nut from the front prop to transfer case and 2 rear prop too transfer case nuts while I rebuilt my transfer case, I thought I could throw any old but on but nope... thread is wrong haha

does anyone know the size and thread pitch or know where I could buy some from ASAP?

on a bright note my transfer case is done and working fine and fixed my non existent handbrake finally! Just need these nuts then she’s straight in for the rear chassis to be welded around the bump stops:smile: never ending list but she’s slowly getting better:eusa-whistle::tearsofjoy:

Thank you mate but unfortunately not, there the ones from the prop to the diff, the ones I need are transfer case end and they have a stud fitted permanently and you just tighten a nut on when fitting the prop

Any chance you take a trip to your local nut and bolt specialist with one of each if they are different hurry you only got an hour left

When i have encountered the odd thread size problem , can't remember which bit i was working on , i eventually discovered Toyota likes to throw a few 1.25 pitch threads into the mix just to confuse people .

That's off the top of my head with a useless memory so you may want to double check it with the wife coz they know everything or if she's out maybe google can help .

From memory it's not just the pitch, it's also something really daft like 11.5 mm

7/16th is 11 point something mm and while think of it as an imperial size its still very much in use as a universal something , recently learned from technodrive gearbox headaches .

So a 7/16th fine thread maybe ?

My local nut shop we’re useless..
They said it’s an m10 then a m12 but then told me it’s a 1mm thread fine pitch, which although they specialise in nuts, don’t stock fine thread :tearsofjoy:

phoned Toyota parts near me who were.. kinda helpful:tearsofjoy: asked if I need the bolt as well which I said it’s fitted to the flange.. he then had to ask for help and said don’t worry these must be right..

there ordered and should be in Monday so hopefully they match but for anyone wondering it’s around £24 for 4 nuts and washers off Toyota:eusa-whistle:

I took a Micrometer and Thread Gauge to my spare Transfer Case yesterday:

Front flange studs:- 9.80mm dia x 1.0mm pitch.
Rear flange studs :- 10.87mm dia x 1.0mm pitch.

These are very odd sizes; I bought some new nuts a couple of years ago and suspect they came from Simon Holton at Steven Eagell Toyota.

As an aside - Simon appears to have moved to the Milton Keynes Branch, but I have been unable to contact him by 'phone. I have tried various approaches, spoken to people who have "put me through" but no response. Does anyone have a direct number for him ??

Bob.

He is certainly responding to emails as I got some bits from him a few weeks ago

Well, he was.

I sent him a list of Part Nos and he came straight back with a quote. Usually, I then phone with my card details and all is well with the world.

But:

Since receiving the quote I have 'phoned and e-mailed to no response.

Maybe he's in Self Isolation mode :? .

It sounds like these bolts are a nightmare haha.

I managed to get some off a local lad who broke a collie but as you said Bob, the front flange and rear have different size studs! I’ve managed to get all the nuts for one shaft but the other is still missing 2! I’ve spoke to Toyota parts and they didn’t sound like they have a clue and didn’t really seem like they want the hassle off a old worthless truck  :tearsofjoy:

sent me a pic of a prop an bolts and nuts but doesn’t say which prop and he reckons the nuts are all the same front back and both diff sides:crazy:

but I’ve got a nut off and we’ll have to wait and see tomorrowif they come in and see if they match the one I’ve took off

This is why we phone Simon Holton rather than Toyota , he may work for Toyota but he knows the club and will help in any way he can

Simon is back - he had been on holiday (pity his colleagues didn't know this  ).

He is now based in Milton Keynes and is quoting the Steven Eagell Toyota central switchboard number, I haven't got a direct line number for him (yet).

With four Toyotas I've usually got him on speed-dial .

I will keep it in mind for the future! I managed to find some from a breakers luckily! So I’m already for welding
