I have a 79 series pick up looking to put on 265/75-16 tyres from 265/70-16 tyres any problems fuel and handling any pro and cons with them.

No problems on a 79 series (or many other LC) models, with the change to 265/75s. Only a very small increase in overall height and rolling radius. So changes to mpg and Speedo reading are minimal.

Depending on what look you're going for, you might even get away with 285/75r16s - looks ultra cool imho but will have a bigger impact on Speedo and fuel economy etc. not to mention any potential rubbing issues.

We need some pics! ;-)

285/75r16s toyo MT tyre are too heavy for 1kzte auto transmission with original 10:43 axle ratios

@Jeffthen I have toyo open country 33 x 12.5 x 15's on my kzj71 manual with 4.88 ratio and it runs on rails and pulls like a mx bike... best tyres I've had on the truck...

Fuel consumption has been reduced from 23 mpg to 20 mpg... but it's such a fun drive that it's worth it!

Edit because of complaint.

Guys, the OP has a 79 series pickup - this is one of the newer series with the 4.5l V8.

It will probably still pull like a train even with cartwheels fitted.

I think clearance will be the limiting factor, not power/torque or gearing.
