I have a LJ70 with standard wheel arch extensions and 15x7JJ rims, the current tyres are 31/10.5x15.
My question is what are the largest tyres that will fit these rims and the Landcruiser? I don't want to raise the suspension or body.
Also does anyone know where to buy an oil pressure switch from? Toyota want an excessive amount.
Cheers
Dave

Hi David,
A 70 series can take very large tyres in it's standard setup, the
limiting factor is the width (touching the body when turning). You
could even go for a narrow 35" with standard suspension.
I had 255/85r16 fitted on the original suspension, no rubbing.
There is this very informative page on tyre selection specificly for
J7's here: http://www.carmaeleon.de/ReifenToyo.html
Unfortunatly it is in German, but you should be able to figure out the
table at the bottom of the page. Or run it trough
babelfish.altavista.com .
Cheers,
Frederik

My name:- Dick Valentine
I live in Rugby Warwickshire UK
Current vehicle:- Landcruiser LC4 (120) Purchased new 2004 no mods
I am looking to replace the original tyres currently, Dunlop Grandtrek
265/65 R17. My motoring is mostly on road with occasional off road use,
so an AT type tyre would be fine. Any suggestions?

Hey Dick
I have the General Grabber ATs and find them good and 2/3 the price of the
BFGs.

Hello all
Ripped the wall of my front BFG AT tyre yesterday (thought they were
indestructable)
My spare is a road tyre
I need a new BFG AT.
Question is:
Can you mix a new tyre in with 3 half worn ones? - I think not.
Do all the tyres have to have the same tread on them?
Perhaps I could get 2 new ones for the front, take off the half worn
front tyre and keep as spare?
What is the risk to the diffs from having odd tyres?
Thanks
Niall

Hi Niall
How did you do that with the tyre.
Is the road tyre the same size as the other three.
Only asking cause its unuasal to see a road tyre mixed in with ATS is it
not.
It is very unlikely that everyone goes out and buys four tyres at once.
Sure this is what you would do if you changed a flat for the spare would it
not.
I would be very cautious about keeping the road tyre on with the other ATS
cause they will work differently and your tyres are the only contact you
have with the road to stop the 2 plus Tons.

Alright John
Rekon the tyre was under inflated and I hit a stone or something in the
ditch.
Bought 4 new tyres this time last year. The old ones were road spec, so
kept the best one for the spare.
I read somewhere that if you have odd size tyres or tyres with
different wear on an axel you will damage the diff. Not sure if this is
the case. But perhaps thats why the LC manual says to rotate the tyres
(including the spare) every 5K km - to keep the wear even?
Anyway, Intend to replace both front with new keeping the half worn for
spare.
So the front axel will have 2 new BFG AT, the back will have 2 half
worn BFG AT. Hopefully this will not have any adverse effect on the
diff.....
Cheers
Niall

BFG is what I speak about. Yes BFG are good tyres but AT's in the mud
suck. But we know the new BFG MT's KM2 are much better, but we do not
get them in France yet ! We have only KM for sale here.
