Used/2ndHand; Breaker/Salvage parts

Need a bit of advice - I'm in the process of fixing my electric window
problem and was wondering whether any of you know where I could get 2nd
hand/use items; 1 x Drivers side electric window motor; 1 x Front Passenger
side Electric window motor; and FPS door regulator. The motors are both
broken/damaged beyond repair - have seen them and seen the damage, yep, they
need replacing, cleaned them up and unceased them so the door locks work
perfectly now, but the windows don't...
Toyo quote 155.40 each with regulator costing 59.12 (exc VAT prices),
altogether (with VAT) it would cost 434.66 GBpounds.
Been checking breakers/salvage but the bits seem to be unavailable - some
one in London has them but they don't accept cash or cheque, just DC or CC
If I could source a local Bristol (or South West) breaker than I could go
and see them and probably then pay cash (hopefully) after building up a
rapport with the supplier/breaker/salvage bods.

Hi Renate
Thought of swapping the ones from the back into the front ?

What? can I do that? one of the rear is a bit tempremental, so I couldn't
use that one - windows still open but the door lock is iffy, although it
usually works, but from time to time it doesn't.
Logically, I guess it could be done - never thought of that...thanks, will
peruse that thought for a short while!
Cheers

Hi Renate,
You could try ringing this bloke, I have had a few things from a Cruiser he
is breaking, he may still have the window motors, I don't know his name but
the numbers are 0789 9020558 or 01728 720078 10am-4pm.

Thanks for these links but methinks ebay won't like me 'cos I don't have the
ubiquitous credit or debit card - just a slight problem I might add.
I'll check it out anyway
Thanks again

Paypal, Ebay's preferred payment mechanism, actually prefers direct
debits from bank accounts.

I have collected or even had things dropped of by the seller and used cash.
Can't remember how to set an ebay account up though.

I used to have an account with them but I was 'had' one day and had my ID
stolen, together with my account details. It was sorted in the end but it
did take and while and they got stroppy and threatened me with court
proceedings before they realised what had really happened - so, another
reason why I'm so wary of financial transactions with the likes of Ebay.
Now I'm having problems with an old PayPal account, so I just delete their
comments when they come through by email and forget it, since there is no
'real' account with them anymore, they can't sting me for anything (probably
the people who send me those emails are not 'kosher' anyway)
Cheers

Hi Renate,
The chances are that at some point you have had a virus/trojan on your
computer where a keylogger was installed so that evil bastards could copy your
account details and do what they want with it. Always ensure you have some
sort of firewall in place and some good regularly updated anti-virus software
installed - it is also imperative to at least weekly check to ensure that your
windows/mac os is properly updated.
Having said that, some of the paypal stuff may well be spoof phishing emails
where spammers send out random emails appearing to have come from your bank or
paypal, etc and then providing a link to a site where you are asked to confirm
your secure login details - they then take your login details and nick all
your money or do dodgey things with it.
NEVER, NEVER follow a link in an email to a bank or other secure site that you
use. If you need to visit your bank or PayPal, etc always load your browser
and type in the address yourself.
Also when travelling be very wary of using Internet Cafes for access bank
details etc - quite often the internet cafes have keylogging software running
on them. Ideally buy a cheap laptop to take with you and ask to conect that
to their network (I never had a problem with this in Morocco) and then use
your laptop for the connection - whilst they may be 'sniffing' the data
packets on the network, it will be encrypted between your browser and the host
site if the host site is a secure site (using https:// as opposed to http://).

Julian
Your advice is timely, as always.
Yeah, I bet its all spammers and phishers too! - I've got a really effective
Firewall so am well-protected.
Funny that! I have no bank accounts with anyone apart from one for teh last
5 years - all the others send me emails (spam-phisher-hunter-gatherers)
saying do this, do that, update your a/c details blah, blah, and then ask to
be given your ID...same with the 'inland revenue' I get phished by these
guys too...(self-assessment [or lack of it]) everybody seems they're doing
it - not to me, not this time.
I'm taking this current laptop with me and won't be accessing any internet
cafes in Nord Afrique unless I REALLY have to.
BTW - are there any toyo 4x4 breakers/salvagers up your way? seems they're
few and far between.
Thanks for your advice and comments - sorry I hardly ever send emails these
days.
Cheers
Renate

Hi Renate,
Sorry, none.
Your best bet is to look on the web -there are a couple of search services
where you can enter your car details and the parts that you want and then
they email a stack of scrappies to see what they have avaliable - don't
remember the links off hand, but google should help.
