While my inlet manifold is off and the starter is exposed I thought I might as well have a look at the solenoid contacts:
Well the starter might be exposed with the manifold off but it's still a bit of a PITA to get at the right hand bolt, mainly because you've got to get so deep into the engine bay to get at it. I put one of those foam mechanics pads across the top of the air box and what not on the left side of the engine bay and climbed in on that!
On the bench:
Contacts only have a little bit of pitting at 70k but while I'm in there I might as well swap the contacts and plunger for the new ones I have and keep the old ones for just in case. Hopefully I won't be in here again for a 100k or so.
