Hi - I have been given the site for a good supplier -
www.autoperformanceengineering.com model 6065 - 10 psi $85 plus
post to UK. They also can supply various fittings brackets etc. Craig
Vincent in NZ has also sent a load of info and has said what a worthwile
mod it is especially if done in conjunction with a freeflow exhaust and
a snorkle. So - money on the table time - I'm going to order one - is
anyone else going to take the plunge ? If yes I'm willing to do one
"bulk" order.
Regards Gareth Jones.

Hi Gareth,
$85 + P&P - IMHO is a bit steep compared to Pierburg pumps avaiable in the UK.
Let us know how you'red doing.

Hi Roman- I note what you are saying. Are Pierburg and Walbro the same performance / quality , I have no idea. Are the Pierburg pumps for sale in the UK and =A3???. The consensus seems to be Walbro is the way to go - if you know a cheaper source I'm with you all the way, but I would like to try this mod so I am not going to wait too long.
Regards Gareth.

Gareth,
I've posted about this mod some time ago both here and in the 80scool list. I
fitted a Pierburg model 7.21440.53.0 about six months ago. The main reason why
I did it was not acceleration or top speed but to enhance the performance &
reliability of the OEM Denso lift pump. I have two fuel tanks and two fuel
filters, which means that the Denso pump has do work harder than usual (the
distance to the aux tank is an extra 3 -4 feet. I haven't really noticed any
dramatic improvement in the performance or fuel consumption, but it may by my
own perception.
One functional difference between the Walbro in Pierburg is the internal fuel
filter which is the latter hasn't. Other than that, it has a slightly lower
working pressure but I bet you'd never notice it if it were not printed in the
spec sheet. I attach a spec sheet.
It is available from TI Automotive Fuel Systems, Global Aftermarket, Unit T,
Halesfield 9, Telford TF7 4ET. Contact Simon Range ( [Email address removed] )
and remind him that he sold me one for the total of ?50.00 plus VAT + P&P

WJ,
Only that having been squezed out of the EU market by Pierburg, Walbro pumps
are now marketed in Oz/NZ. Been there, done that ...

Is Pierburg also adjustable in pressure?
(I believe that this is argument #2 for Walbro, apart from the piston-
design (non-turbulent/non-emulsifiying/non-foaming), and both apart
from life-expectancy reputation)

WJ,
No, it's not, I am not sure what could be gained from such adjustment.
According to Caraig Vincent 7-10psi is about right for the Denso 096000-6420
injection pump. And ss, for life expectancy it's too early to say, as once
replied a Chinese president when asked about his views on the French
revolution...
