Hi guys
What was the purpose of 'Walbro pump'-wasn't it to help the injection pump for some reason and to help your pocket not to overhaul the injection pump?
any comments deeply appreciated
cheers

Hi Lubo
Yes you are right. It pushes the fuel to the injector pump and so helps to reduce the strain on it. I have one sitting in the shed for the past year and will one day get it fitted.
cheers

Hi John
looks like I have to buy one but I have to wait a little:
Walbro is introducing a new line of fuel pumps. In the next six months, they will be eliminating the 2000 Series pumps and the 6000 Series pumps. See this page for details.
BTW what was the reason you overhaul your IP?
I spoke today with Maartens and as long as I understand right they can sell a new IP for about 2000 euro.
cheers

Hi Lubo,
To force feed the inlet of the injection pump at low pressure so it can
get on with it's job of delivering the fuel at the right time in the
right amount and it reduces wear on the injection pump by eliminating
cavitation damage. If fuel is restricted it causes the injection timing
to retard as the engine revsas the fuel pressure inside the body of the
injection pump acts on a piston to advance the timing roughly linearly
in relation to increasing rpm (a bit like the way a petrol engine
distributor uses advances weights that swing out with increasing engine
rpm to advance the timing on pre EFI engines).
You should be able to order one and get it freighted out of the USA
easy enough.
Cheers,
Craig.
