On the other hand what if I flush and I spring a leak or two
or three. Can I just put some rad fix in there and if so will it block just
the holes or some thing that I will need working and now is not.

Don't worry JB, that is why I said go ahead by all means. Use the rad
flush as directed till the flush water comes out crystal clear and
possibly get a bottle of rad sealer in stock - its best to have one
handy anyway. But when you have re-filled it with anti-freeze, run
the car up to temperature with heaters running at maximum blower
speed and have a good long sniff for hot anti-freeze before driving
it. If you smell it then add the sealer and you will be OK.
Remember that you have to flush the heater circuit as a separate
task, though its straightforward enough to do, but make sure that you
have the dash switch to max heat.

Hey Jon-c-w
Thanks for that.
So if I empty out the system of all the coolant in there and pull the hoses
off where they go into the bulk head. Then put a hose in the hose to flush
out the heater, and let it run for a while, will that do. Then fill the
system with water and the rad flush and run it at idle or drive it for a
while (which is best) with the heater on full blast then drain it. If its
dirty could I do it again and again untill it comes out clear. What if the
heater is no better than it was whats the next step.
cheers

Well, first of all JB, always follow the instructions on the can. But
it will never harm the system to flush it out first, but remember to
do it with the engine cold if you are using cold water from a hose.

That's about it JB, again do what it says on the can, some just
require you to run it at idle and not get it too hot. It will
certainly come out dirty after using the chemical, and you have to
flush it once or twice. But again, don't put cold water straight into
a hot engine/radiator. The instructions should give you timing etc.
between various stages. Put aside a day for the job and if you are
lucky the instructions may allow you to put the chemical in, warm-up
and then drain overnight so you have a cold engine to flush out in the morning.
And wrote finally...
What if the heater is no better than it was whats the next step.

Go to church and pray you don't have to remove the heater matrixes :-*
