westcoast 4x4

Nope. I asked the other week. They said that their prices are already rock bottom. Well they are good, but I wouldn't say rock bottom and I find their carriage charges very expensive. Great staff, great service blah blah, but expensive postage in my view.

anyone in the retail game with a reasonbly closed market would be insane, thats more likely the reason you wont get a discount

I called in to see them on my way home as I seemed to develop a speed related vibration. It turned out to be the trailer I was pulling ahem

Anyway while I was there they put the 80 on the ramp and gave it the once over. They didn't even charge me for it

So while it was up in the air I decided to treat it to an Ironman steering damper to mach the rest of my suspension. Well one good turn deserves another and all that :)

I had a good chat with the guys there and you could tell from the conversations we had that there was a lot of knowledge and experience flowing around the garage. I could have spend all day in there but had to eventually drag myself away before I spent a large fortune on toys. But don't worry I will be back with a list in the very near future

I would recommend them to anyone and don't be put off by the back street garage type facade that greets you on arrival. Their attitude and knowledge soon puts you at ease

Last time I went, four hours passed with Paul before I knew what had happened...

Them's good guys them is :D

I should just add, if anyone wants anything picking up for the weekend (Lincomb...), I'll be calling in to WC4x4 tomorrow for some new meats... If you want anything drop me a smessage on 0771 873 9596 as I'll not be on here before I head out early doors tomorrow...

Va bene

Thanks Gav,
I sent an email to that address over a week ago, and followed up again a couple of days ago with another mail. If they have an email address advertised on their web site you shouldn’t have to follow up by phone, should you?

I've chatted to Paul about his web-contact etc before suggesting he would do well to become involved in the forums a bit more but he's got so much on in the yard, he rarely gets time to get on the forums...

But no, they are not renowned communicators I'm afraid...

didn't have any probles being answered via email ....... but when i actually ordered my gear ..i phoned them to make sure i was getting the right stuff

so it's probably easier to ring them

They didn't answer my email so i gave someone else a grand . They were helpful on the phone though its just unfortunate i like to see what i'm buying before i hand money over . I bet they could have thier whole catalogue available to view on thier website and it wouldn't cost a grand .

It's interesting as you hear of a number of Land Cruiser/4x4 specialists who are too busy to answer phones and emails. In today's modern world of business I personally think it's crazy that these folk can't spend an hour a day responding to queries. If you can't do that, then why have a website and email address

Plenty of folk out there who do get this right and hence get my business, probably at a slightly elevated cost, but I would rather that then deal with anyone who did not bother to answer their phone or respond to email. What do you do when it goes wrong and you need support...

I have bought stuff on the internet that has been shipped from Hong Kong/China that has got here quicker than the same goods ordered in this country :icon-rolleyes:

Hi all,

Well a plesent update

I sent West Coast an email, from in there website at about 5 minutes before my last post.
My last post was (my time ) 16:44 so sent to them about 16:40

I got a reply from Paul Lundstom, (which might Paul's dad), at 18:42 (my time)

So actually a magnificent just 2 hours to reply.

I do think that that's very good reply timer to be honest.

Gra.

Thing is, in the modern business world, you need some sort of web presence to attract customers - as a new customer, I'd pass over any number of retailers I couldn't see on the web, unless they're local, in favour of a company who lists products on the 'net. Even then, I shy away from the companies that say "call me for a quote" or "send us an email". Ok, it gives me an opening to negotiate on price, but if they then start saying "the price I offer you is rock bottom" then why don't you put a price online?

The caveat to all that, I think, is that if you're going to bother with web-presence, you need to respond timely to the genuine queries that come in. 2 hours is not unreasonable. I call the time between sending an email and the response "desperation factor" - if it take 5 minutes to get back to you, then they really want your business. If it takes 2 hours - well they want your business, probably too busy to answer a query immediately. If it's 6 hours, well it should have been responded to by then, they might have been busy, but more likely someone was too lazy to respond straight away - a bit ambiguous, but not a bad sign. If it takes more than a day, they're not interested in your business. If it takes a week, then they're a one man band and he's doing it in his spare time and not that bothered.

I've got queries out at Allisport and Hosetechnik for the last 2 days and no response so clearly they don't need or want my pennies ...
