I've always been curious about what people do for beer tokens and how far removed that is from your "hobby".
You'll find some people who know the inside of the engine backwards while others don't know which way to hold a hammer. Often those former people are the most unlikely.

So... What do you do for a living?

I'll start: Database Administrator (fancy name for programmer :ugeek: )

My title is "Professional Services Consultant", but I am a Storage specialist.... what that actually means is that I work for a company that sells and maintains large network storage devices..... think in terms of 800Tb systems for our smaller systems that normally cost in the region of £200k :)

And if all that does not make sense... I am a IT contractor :)

3/3 nerds. Not a good start...

Not allowed to tell but suffice it to say I work for the Police as an office wallah.
I have been an engineer, mechanic, electronics technician, driver, Royal Navy etc. etc. etc.
In other words a jack of all trades or maybe just an odd job man

I'm a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, been doing it for 10 years next month.

My specialisation is Navigation but overall I am a Warfare Officer. I have served in mainly destroyers, namely HMS Edinburgh, HMS Manchester (which Ecky also served in many many moons ago!) and HMS Liverpool but my last sea job was Navigator of the Aircraft Carrier HMS ILLUSTRIOUS.

Have been a busy boy in the last few years and have completed four deployments to Iraq, two to the Falklands, one in the Mediterranean and probably the nastiest one was Sierra Leone!

Now I teach and assess the new generation of Warfare Officers how to be Navigators before i no doubt return to sea in about two years.

Why? Because computers hate me and as some of you know, i'm not good with spanners.

Right, well then. That puts the wire puller (Julian), the harddrive nerd (Tony) and me (DBA = Dumb Bloody A**hole) in our place then...

Hi All

Well This what I do ! (not as good some others)

I own my own business as a Haulage contractor, shipping things around the country,
also do some Caravan delivery's (not that many these days).

Before I started my own business I was a Service Engineer, servicing Cleaning equipment
ranging from a up rite Vac up to a ride on sweeper/scrubber drier

I'm a chemical engineer working for a consultancy. My main focus is on the chemicals and fertilizer sectors

I'm a Drainage Engineer, which basically means I need to be a drainage contractor, a landscape gardener, a builder, a plumber, a groundworker, a pipe relining technician, a roofer, a driveway specialist and an engineer all rolled into one :|

I deal with all manner of water and sewage flow from the moment it touches/leaves your house to the moment it reaches the sewer (or including the soakaway if there are no sewers). I enjoy it but I won't stay with it forever, I'm hoping to get a writing career off the ground.

In the past I've also done time as a Security Guard and as a Barman :)

I am the director of a very small building services consulting engineering company. We design and have installed electrical and mechanical services in buildings. However I am pretty fed up with it and have applied to the police for membership. Hope to hear soon.

Big change, eh? :o

I am a lorry driver (C+E). and always looking for a better job ;)

As for the past, not enought room on this forum!!

Paul

Same as Paul HGV driver for the last 20ish years the last 8 in the UK but the rest of the time was long haul Europe
