what is this?

Hi There Dyfed
I think its possible its an import but hard to se from the pictiurs. The
rear reg plate and reg toyota logo could have been moved to make way for the
rear mounted tyre. I think it has a one piece cargo glass panel again this
could be an after market piece. It also has cloth seats and I know there
has been a discussion on this with most saying that the UK VXs only come
with leather seats, I have a UK VX and it has the cloth seats. I also see
the price which seems OK and I did'nt even know I was selling it JB Motors
get it. If its not too far away why not have a look and take it out for a
test drive and ask about the warrantee and all the info on it like owners,
service history where registered. Push your luck and see if he would let you
get an oil analysis which would show up any problems in the engine.

Mine has cloth seats and has never visited (let alone been 'created')
in Japan!
Its a 'grey' area, this import business....

Dyfed,
This is definitely an import from Japan; Japanese nearside wing mirror, rear
mounted spare, one piece 3rd row windows, aftermarket rear foglight etc.
Check what the dealer means when he claims 'one owner' - he probably means
one owner since import. Do not believe the myth that all imports from Japan
have genuine mileages (many don't) and have been well looked after, a good
number of imports have seen no maintenance for up to two years prior to
import due to the vagaries of the Japanese MOT test system. This isn't to
say they are all bad - just treat any vehicle UK or import with the same
scepticism if mileage claims aren't backed up by a watertight history. The
price doesn't look too bad, but do get it inspected unless you know exactly
what you're looking at...
Best of luck.

Dyfed,
Also check whether its got the cross-axle difflocks if you're going to use
it remotely seriously off road. Out of the imports I've seen only around a
third have them.

I'm sure that's an import, the wing mirror being the main give away I
think, so check for lockers.

Hey There Dyfed
An oil analysis is when you take a little oil from the sump or the gear box
and get it tested for things like metals and such. Because the engine and
gear box are made of different metals and combinations of metals the
analysis checks for the amounts of metals in the oil. You only need an egg
cup full and you can get the kit from Difflock store for about ?17 I think
and that includes the test
