years and plates

Hi Guys
Just wondering if anyone can remember a list posted a good while back detailing the verious years for the plates in the UK.
Its just when im looking at cruiser parts and it says M reg etc I dont know what eyar that is.

It went by the year up to Y reg. Remember that the UK doesn't use I O Q or Z as normal prefixes, so in the range that you are concerned with this gives:
M =3D Aug 1994 - Jul 1995
N =3D Aug 1995 - Jul 1996
P =3D Aug 1996 - Jul 1997
R =3D Aug 1997 - Jul 1998
Also under UK law you can have a private plate that is "older" than your vehicle, but not one that makes it look newer. So you can guarantee that a vehicle with - say - a "P" plate is no older than 1996/7, but it may be younger.
