    Engine help

Firstly, are you sure that the engine has completely died and you need a new engine? Unless you have a ton of forbidden glitter in the oil filter or lower oil pan, or unless you have an extra inspection hole in the block, these 1FZ-FE engines are robust and can be rebuilt. Colorado, and the...

New 80-Series Owner On His Way to England

I actually prefer driving a left hand drive car in the UK. Due to the lack of shoulders on the smaller roads, you have to drive quite close to the hedges especially when there is an oncoming car. I can better gauge how close I am to the side in a left-hand drive car. It's slightly more difficult...

    Hello

I'm not sure which Land Cruiser you have, but there have been people (with D4D models) with similar issues that were resolved when they cleaned, or replaced, the red and green suction control valves on the back side of the fuel injection pump.

Finally, you should perform some maintenance: 1) Prices for genuine Toyota items are expensive here. I don't know who long you will be here for, or how much mileage you plan on driving, but I purchased an extra fusible link, oil filters and washers, and air filters to last me for about 30k...

New 80-Series Owner On His Way to England

Another thing to remember is to bring your AZ plates (tags) with you (either leave them in the truck prior to shipping or pack them in your luggage). If Arizona requires that turn in your plates, then any other States' plates will do. You cannot legally drive your vehicle in the UK without...

New 80-Series Owner On His Way to England

I passed the MOT (first try) without any mechanical, safety, or emissions issues. I realize that that the MOT is standardized, but I think how merciful the person performing the MOT plays a factor. As for the undercoating, do it. I used Lanoguard. It is the UK version of WoolWax and Fluid Film...

That's awful. Sorry you have to deal with this. That top was likely taken and is in the process of being refurbished (some damage likely occurred to it). 89 Turbo Diesel Arriving Soon - Looking for US Parts source

It's a beautiful truck! The issue you'll have with parts availability is that the 70-series was never offered in the US so most places are getting their new stock from Japan, Australia, or South Africa. You can try places like: Vehicle - 70 Series HD Land Cruiser (up to 1/90) - Page 1 - Wits'...

Part 1: Part 2: Part 3: Rust around the the rear tailgate window is a thing on our roughly 30-year old vehicles. You don't have to do exactly what the person did in the video, but it will give you a good idea on what materials are needed, the general course of action, and what things you...

    Lc100 1FZ-FE excessive fuel consumption

The 1FZ-FE in the LC80 was originally advertised for 12mpg city and 15mpg highway. I'd say that your 20L/100km is about right. Replacing the charcoal canister is easy and probably should be done especially if you're hearing venting when opening the fuel cap. Don't forget to check the evap hoses...

How big an issue is high mileage on dpf models?

Congratulations on you purchase! The optimist in me says that if the vehicle's performance is good, the fuel economy is where it should be, and you're not white smoking and there are no warning lights, then enjoy the ride while it lasts. However, Josh Cinzio, the managing director of diesel...

Which Jump starter pack to buy

I've also used a Noco GB40. Great for jump starting, but not so great for recharging electronics. I had an Antigravity XP-10 and loved the form factor and really wanted to love it, but after jump starting 3 Hyundai Tucsons in a row (at a camping event) the battery was hot and bloated and the...

Which Jump starter pack to buy

I have a Gooloo GT4000s. Admittedly, I have not jump started my truck and it is a bit bulky. However, I have helped jump start other people's vehicles and it works great for charging the kids' tablets. Plus, I like having a little insurance in case I forget to turn off an interior light overnight.

What’s going up in power size like for a petrol auto?

I'm in the same situation as you--'94 FZJ with stock 31 inch tires planning on going to 33 inches at my next tire change. As a general rule, your mileage goes down as your tire size goes up simply due to the increased mass. This is because most people who go to a larger tire also go to a wider...

That's fellas. The MOT guy said I needed some daytime driving lights and that he could make it look good by placing LEDs just under the headlamps. I'll double check. He also said that he can make my front side amber lights into turn signals, so no need to add additional side lighting. Finally...

Bringing a US-Spec FZJ in the UK

Frank the Tank made it across the pond relatively unscathed. Only the rear "Toyota Land Cruiser" emblem fell off and was lost, and the AC no longer works (worked fine prior to shipment). He needs a rear fog light, a couple of white daytime driving lights up front, and side markers before the MOT.
