Map sensor replacement

I don't think the MAF sensor is iffy, but I'm on 150,000+ miles so I'll replace it.
What are the usual MAF sensor iffy performance issues?
What improvement might I get if I replace it?
Seems an easy quick job to replace?

That's the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, I believe.

Does it normally need replacing?

Not as a 'norm whatever that is. Although I have never had trouble with one, they can on the odd occasion play up. I have, as others, given it a very gentle clean. I used switch cleaner as I didnt have specific stuff, and cotton buds on the small elongated bulb that is the sensor inside.
Very gently as can be fragile.
As engine was running fine before, it made no difference anyway, and very little shit came off.
