New to the forum

Long story short, it was built in San Diego and ended up being shipped over here by an American who then couldn't afford to ship it back when he went back

Sweet - where is it now?

Awesome pics - you can just keep posting those if you like Matt!!!

The FJ lives with my best mate in Sussex, I blew the rear diff at Slindon about 3 years ago and he had it to fix, one thing led top another and he ended up as the new owner.

Unfortunately it has sat there ever since unfixed :(

I may buy it back one day (but not till its fixed :D )

I'm not entirely sure, I'll find out, I think they were FJ40 axles with the rear one moved back, the rear diff, if I remember correctly, had a truetrack or detroit type locker in.

It suffered from axle wrap on the back end despite having a traction bar.....

Hi Ed, how are you ?

How's the new Cruiser ?

I moved your old TJ off the drive last weekend for the first time since you delivered it, battery was flat !!!! ;)

If I can get my ass into gear and put the bumpers back on (took off to powder coat but havent got around to it) and install a cut off switch then I maybe trialling it the weekend after next

Erm, excuse me Matt, you know the rules - you post words, you post pics; no pics, no words... You owe us pics...

Ed, stop distracting him form his work...

cruiser is doing my nut in at the moment.... it's now out of lock center, and dropping in and out no problem, just not sure how well as I am not getting the dash light. Shorted the sensors and the light works fine. so I am thinking it's the sensor. Oil is good and fresh. So I am guessing the sensor may have bust and locked the diff in until it was lifted all 4 wheels. Gonner drain it and re-fill to see if there are any bits in there, and maybe borrow a camera to have a look inside without stripping it. but as soon as the high low sensor was shorted, it worked a treat with the light going on and off as it should. Think I have buggered a CV joint though :D clicking in reverse.

Was the battery really flat after what, 3 months ?? :) bet it's buggared now too. Glad you are giving her some TLC, those bumpers needed re-coating....

Where are you thinking of trialling ? (doubt I can get a pass :) )

Oh, and post another pic to keep this lot sweet

I've joined a local club 'Twinaxle' and am taking part in the second of four events as part of their annual challege.

I did the first one in the Cruiser, despite the tightest course ever, some of the punches were between trees that I couldn't physically get two front wheels through, I did really well until last thing were I stopped to help a novice who was (really really) stuck which meant getting back to the start late (actually 47mins late) thus giving me 12,000 penalty points

So this one I'm going to do in the Evil mobil

Anyway, some more pics

Gav - Chris and I got penalty points at the weekend for being late back, but we though it would have been a bit harsh to leave Andrew perched there whilst we popped and handed the punch cards in! In total we had seven people and three 80's involved in that recovery.

As you know, there was only a few guys and girls that organised and ran our event, so they couldn't be everywhere, to note what happened. They just had to mark it as they saw it, to keep it fair for everyone. I wasn't really fussed, as I was never going to be competing for a podium. I was in it for the fun, and I had loads!

Matt - Welcome to the forum, thats a couple of nice Toyotas you've had/have there, thanks for sharing the pics. I've offroaded with a couple of the Twinaxle guys before, they seem a good active club, you should have fun there.

Cheers.

Hi Scott,

You're right, it's all about having a bit of fun, I was never going to win it in an 80 when I was up against an SJ in the cane section

I've only been a member of Twinaxle for a couple of months but in that time I've been made very welcome and had loads of fun

Yes, I was hoping you guys would make it a bit snappier so I could hand my card in :p  As it was, I forgot to hand it in altogether...

I wondered why you had a blank on the scorecard for the punches Andy!!!
