1972 FJ40. Issue:
both turn signals function front/back/left/right externally and emergency flasher work externally when activated. Both dash indicators do not function or light up when activated by the turn signal arm or the pull emergency light switch.

Have changed the signal indicated located next to the fuse box, but cannot seem to locate the issue.

Have you checked the bulbs haven't blown in the dash circuit board?
Or loose wire on the round connection block?

Yup. Got the right indicator on the dash working. There is current to the bulb on the left one, but it is very low and is constant when activated. A low glow and does not flash. Traced the wire back to the harness and all is OK. Not sure where it terminates to check

On another note. My brake warning light, the red one on the left side of the instrument that has the placard BRAKES is missing the light socket. Is it a two wire socket or a one wire and what is the wire designation on the harness.

thanks for the help.

Indicators might be bad earth or perished copper wire? Also check contacts on bulb holder the copper may need a wipe over with some fine sand paper?

Can't help with brakes one as mine doesn't have warning light sorry.
