rasping noise from front brake

I can only hear this when braking and the window down. Brake performance seems to be normal. Is this just the pads running low or something worse??

Can't see from here, have you had a look?

Usually its excessive pad wear, but it could be debris trapped by the rotor or a damaged pad shim. It needs attention anyway, don't just ignore it, it will cost more in the long run!

Turned out to be a sticky caliper which had worn down one pad much more than the other side. Has been freed so hopefully that's it but will check again in a while.

I'd advise keeping an eye on it. They can stick for no apparent reason, but often it recurs, needing attention later.
