I have done the 1HZ H55 swap into the LJ body.
You need the front frame fender mounts from the bj to fit the front clip. it is a bolt on.
The hz fits perfectly into the larger engine bay.
The 2 bodies mount exactly the same. swap away.
Although I like the coils much better.
Enjoy and post up pics
Transfer all the monuts from coil to leaf.
Front can not be done unless 1990 and newer with 80 series center bolted in ... no advantage over your front now.
Tcase will work fine.
if you split the rad then you have an issue that had been there before the rad cracked.
pull the head and you will find cracks between the valves.
typical issue with the dreaded 2LT engines.
good looking ride ...
i have to ask, what do you blokes do to kill a tranny? sounds like the poor old girl was neglected badly.
at least she has a new caring home.
the 2LTE is a crap engine. period.
I have run larger exhaust, 4 core rad, removed the AC, high nickel head, dialed the turbo boost up and the fuel down (runs cooler) and added an intercooler ... and STILL the head cracked.
the BEST thing to add to a 2LTE is a pyrometer and aftermarket water temp...

the 3.5L 1PZ is a very nice engine but the 1HZ manual is...
i build land cruisers for a living, i have owned diesel 40s in 1981. i know them very well.
painful ownership? can be, depending on what the previous owners have done to it or the lack of maintenance. RUST, is a serious problem. 69-74 has the best bodies. 75-78 are not bad but rust much worse...
