Not sure if this helps but I have a 1998 Prado 5VZFE. Did the radiator about 2 months ago as part of going after another problem. It was the bypass tube between the heads that was leaking down the back and on to the transmission. I could see this by shining a torch up from underneath to the back...

Just wondering if anyone has ever done an ECU upgrade on an older Prado to get the ODBII functionality? I have an older model and it just has the plug on the side of the motor and no ODBII. Would the loom need any significant changes for a slightly later model ECU ?

Following up on this. What I did in the end was to engine enamel the entire tube and to drill a hole in the plate it is joined to just big enough to get a camera scope through so I can least peer in between the heads to see what is going on between them. That way I can check the whole tube now...

Yeah these were not the factory paint spots. The replacement one I have has those. These are like little twink marks. Literally over the leaks. Perhaps it could be something they put in the coolant that came through. Like stop leak. I had to clean the ports out of the block because some of them...
