What is the world coming to?

Well after catching up with this thread about BT,Sky, TV licences etc it’s good to know I’m not alone doing battle too, I’m surprised nobody has mentioned British Gas - until now! So there I was acting as executor for a relative’s estate and dealing with their property which became empty in Feb...

Chassis Rust Removal -- Recommended Tools for Awkward Areas?

I was lucky enough to have the use of a workshop with a ramp and there weren’t any neighbours to annoy either so November worked out ok! I’m just struggling to get the image of your string vest incident out of my head now

Chassis Rust Removal -- Recommended Tools for Awkward Areas?

It was November when I did mine so no shorts and t shirt for me, still got rotten though! The sun must have burnt a weird pattern on your feet through the holes in your crocs!! The underbody on mine wasn’t too bad so no problems at all using the needle gun and it took the surface corrosion off...

Chassis Rust Removal -- Recommended Tools for Awkward Areas?

Good point Tractionman! I should have made it clearer that needle guns are ok on the floor panels, body crossmembers and the like on the underside but a definite no no on outer body panels! I can think of better ways to spend a week than getting filthy under a Land Cruiser but I’d certainly use...

Chassis Rust Removal -- Recommended Tools for Awkward Areas?

I didn’t even know electric needle guns existed! I used an air powered one on my 100 last November and having tried grinders etc over the years they’re definitely the way to go, great on the chassis and no problems using one on the body either. Ear defenders are a must but definitely not a job...

Chassis Rust Removal -- Recommended Tools for Awkward Areas?

The replacement belts for the small sanders don’t last long at all on chassis work so would be a very expensive option! an old wood chisel is good for scraping and getting into tight corners plus a chipping hammer comes in handy for tackling any of the really crusty stuff on the chassis that can...

Axle / Diff Breather and Hub Seals

The best way to check that is to chuck it in the bin! but the good news is that with the exception of a bulb those breathers are just about the cheapest part you’ll ever buy for a Landcruiser! your front diff has one as well so hang the expense and order two! EBay as Buller mentioned or...

    No 4th or 5th gear

I had a similar problem a few years ago but I only lost 5th and with no warning at all. Eventually I found it was one of the temp sensors in the box, as far as I can remember one is for the high temp warning light and the other prevents the box changing into 5th until the fluid is up to a pre...

How do I replace my wheel studs easier?

I got mine from West Coast off road, just as Tractionman has described, they come complete with their own studs plus the nuts you need to bolt them onto your hubs. Not made from chinesium so good quality, bolt straight on and no issues with vibration etc.

    EV's -Tesla

A pal of mine has changed to an electric Audi (Q4 I think) and reckons it’s the dogs wotsits ( or as predictive text put it, the dogs wetsuits!) he regularly makes a return trip to the West Mids on a single charge and reckons an overnight charge at home costs him about £15 compared to a tank of...

Rear AC pipes corroded! Are rubber pipes easier to fit? And better?

Only just spotted your post Mr S! I had the rear pipes capped off on my 100 some years ago, my air con guy had some stainless steel blanks turned up already so simply crimped them in place, low pressure at the rear of the engine bay and high pressure at the left hand front (behind the headlamp...

Yank in need of 100 Euro-spec HDJ100 Intel

Uhu is right, keep the auto, especially for towing, I regularly tow 2000kgs (4400 lbs in American Money) and wouldn’t go back to a manual.
