    The "short" list

Thanks, Firewout; looking on the Japan sites at the mo there are no 13BTs around on a SWB; all are on a medium chassis with the FRP top; actually very nice but those extra 25cm count...seems that the 3litre variants are from earlier years over here; you just don't see many vehicles from the...

    The "short" list

As per the "Exporting a 4.2 from Japan to UK, am I nuts?" thread, we are hoping to go and actually get the ball rolling and see cars for sale this weekend. Checked out the diesel ban and as far as my rooting around tells me, the ban does not apply to passenger vehicles in Tokyo. Its commercial...

Importing a 4.2 l diesel from Japan; am I nuts?

Hi Shayne, thanks for keeping up with this thread and posting. Totally see where you are coming from; the KDJ90 is a stellar piece of kit and would DO the job in its sleep, all day long, every day. Thing is , the aesthetics are a huge turn off, whereas the 70's just look the dog's danglies. So...

Importing a 4.2 l diesel from Japan; am I nuts?

Thanks Ben, we'll be looking at the smaller KZ's with more interest; ditto asking the garage whether we can actually drive the thing in Tokyo. Very helpful, so thanks a lot. We are hoping to get out to a LC specialist this weekend to see some in the metal so to speak. So your post was really timely.

Importing a 4.2 l diesel from Japan; am I nuts?

Thanks so much, GeekOKent; your one sentence has made my day, and made me even more determined to make this happen. The logistics of getting it deregistered in Japan and reregistered in the UK will no doubt cause a bit of stress at the time but they'll be one offs and where there's a will...

Importing a 4.2 l diesel from Japan; am I nuts?

Thanks Firewout; am getting a MUCH clearer picture of what's what, and can't tell you all how much easier it is to do be getting this info in English rather than Japanese. There is great info here about LCs here in Japan, but pretty much nothing about other places, especially the older models...

Importing a 4.2 l diesel from Japan; am I nuts?

Thanks everyone for all the input; this is just the kind of stuff I was hoping for! OK, in case you hadn't already noticed, I'm on a steep learning curve here! So, am I correct in thinking that the 1HZ was the engine for the 80 series which were imported into the UK? And would this mean a...

Importing a 4.2 l diesel from Japan; am I nuts?

" They start with half a turn of the key to well below zero and pull like a train all day long." This is also music to our ears as we're planning on making West Yorkshire "base camp", and winters there will be waaaaaay colder than Tokyo!

Importing a 4.2 l diesel from Japan; am I nuts?

Cheers gentlemen, your input is much appreciated. Condition, condition, condition! Do you think it is worth going for the 4.2 over the earlier 3.4 model? There are some of the smaller engined ones still about that look like they've been babied and in the region of 30% cheaper than their big...

Importing a 4.2 l diesel from Japan; am I nuts?

Hi everyone, newbie here. I've just posted a quick self intro in the "introduce yourself" forum....basically I'm a Brit over in Japan who wants to buy and eventually import a 70 series to the UK. I'm interested in the swb JDM models whose production ran up til 2004, (I think). They have the 4.2l...
